Step Up to the Plate @ your library - grand-prize drawing by ALA - The American Library Association on Flickr.
This is an older photo, but I can’t pass up Ozzie Smith on Opening Day. I miss his back flip so much.
Step Up to the Plate officially wrapped up its fourth season with a national drawing, where Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith selected 11-year-old Elizabeth Ann Bishop of Chambersburg, Pa. as the grand-prize winner.
Bishops was randomly chosen from eligible contestants who correctly answered a series of baseball trivia questions developed by the Hall of Fame’s library staff.

I keep a baseball in my office at work. I toss it around when I’m thinking about a new idea or project. Our custodian, Juana, saw it on my desk one morning and told me that she worked at Principal Park where the Iowa Cubs play. She said she had lots of baseballs that she had collected from working there. She said, “I bring you one!” The next morning I unlocked office door, turned on the lights, and these two official PCL balls were sitting on my desk. What a nice gift!
